Interactive Gradebook Spreadsheet

The OpenEduCat Grading Spreadsheet module integrates Odoo’s native spreadsheet engine with the dynamic GradeBook matrix, enabling instructors and academic administrators to export filtered grade books into live, interactive collaborative spreadsheets.

Overview

Rather than exporting static reports, the interactive spreadsheet feature constructs a dynamic matrix matching the current multi-level hierarchy (Academic Years, Terms, Quarters, and Assignments). Each assignment column automatically expands to include dedicated sub-columns for Score and Comment/Grade, mapped directly to student rows.

Key Benefits: - Hierarchical Layout :- Automatically generates multi-level merged header structures for courses, semesters, and assignments. - Collaborative Live Editing :- Leverage Odoo’s native collaborative spreadsheet environment to analyze grade trends and apply custom formulas. - One-Click Export :- Seamlessly launch the spreadsheet directly from the dynamic GradeBook screen with applied filter criteria.

How to Export Gradebook to Spreadsheet

  1. Open the dynamic GradeBook screen by navigating to Grade Book ‣ Grade Book and clicking on the GradeBook view action (or via Grade Book ‣ Grading Assignment ‣ GradeBook).

  2. Apply the desired filter parameters (e.g., Academic Year, Term, Course, Subject, or Student).

  3. On the top toolbar, next to the expand/collapse controls, click on the Export XLSX button.

Nota

The Export XLSX button is rendered dynamically on the GradeBook control panel when the openeducat_grading_spreadsheet module is installed.

Interactive Spreadsheet Structure

When triggered, OpenEduCat generates a new collaborative spreadsheet record containing:

  • Student Name Column (A) :- Full names of all enrolled students matching the selected filters.

  • Hierarchical Headers :- Top header rows representing Academic Years, Terms, and individual Assignments with automatic multi-column cell merging.

  • Score & Comment Columns :- Each assignment provides paired columns: - Score :- Numeric marks or points obtained by each student. - Comment / Grade :- Assigned letter grades (or status indicators) and faculty remarks.

  • Formulas & Collaboration :- Full access to standard spreadsheet functionalities including pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, and real-time collaboration.

After opening the interactive spreadsheet view, users can further perform custom calculations, share live sheets with faculty members, or download the workbook locally via the spreadsheet menu.
