Student Mentor Configuration

Before drafting a Mentorship Allocation, administrators seed the Mentorship Expertise catalog. Every expertise entry created here becomes selectable in the Mentor Expertise field on the allocation request.

The whole configuration section is restricted to the system administrator group (base.group_system) and lives under SIS ‣ Configuration ‣ Mentor Configuration.

Go to SIS ‣ Configuration ‣ Mentor Configuration ‣ Mentorship Expertise.

The list is editable in-place. To add an entry:

  1. Click the empty row at the bottom of the list.

  2. Enter an Expertise Name (required) — for example Data Structures, Public Speaking, Career Guidance.

  3. Optionally add a Description to help faculty pick the right tag.

  4. Save the row.

The catalog is deliberately kept flat and simple: entries are used purely as tags. Renaming an entry updates it everywhere it is referenced; deleting an entry only affects future selections (already-tagged allocations keep their reference through the many2many relation).

Populate the catalog before opening the Mentorship Allocation menu to faculty. The Mentor Expertise field is required on the request form, so faculty need at least one entry available in order to submit their first allocation.
